John Heah designed it that way in 1998, sinking the resort into the Ayung River valley below Sayan so that nothing tall interrupts the gorge.
Sixty suites and villas step down toward the river, and the walk to the valley floor is a long flight of stairs through the trees.

The Rooftop Lotus Pond is quoted at 50 for a ceremony, 40 standing for cocktails and 20 for a seated dinner. Larger dinners move to the riverside terraces, but this remains a small-format property: plan for a list under 80 rather than over it.
What is the Lotus Pond?+
The circular infinity-edge pond that forms the roof of the resort, reached across a teak footbridge from the road. It is the ceremony space and the resort’s signature image, with the Ayung valley falling away on every side of it.
How much walking is involved?+
A lot, and most of it is stairs. The resort is built down the side of a river gorge, so the walk between the lobby level, the villas and the riverfront is steep. Buggies cover part of it; tell older guests before they book, not on arrival.
What does a wedding here cost?+

How far is Ubud and the airport?+
Ubud town centre is about 10 minutes east. Ngurah Rai International (DPS) is roughly 90 minutes south, 40 km, and the drive is slow through Denpasar at any hour. Most couples give guests an arrival night in Ubud before the first event.
When is the best season in Ubud?+
April to October is the dry season and the wedding season. Ubud sits inland and higher than the coast, so it is cooler, greener and rains more than Uluwatu even in dry months. A covered wet-weather option is not optional here.
