Dunton is a ghost town from 1885 that somebody bought and put back together.
Thirteen hand-built log cabins sit along the West Fork of the Dolores River in the San Juan Mountains at about 8,900 feet, and between them are a saloon with Butch Cassidy’s name carved into the bar, a chapel, a bathhouse over the hot spring, and a dance hall.
The whole town sleeps 44 people, and any wedding over 14 guests takes the whole town.
That is the clearest thing about this venue: you are not booking a room block, you are renting a village.

How many guests can Dunton Hot Springs sleep?+
Forty-four across thirteen cabins, from one to five bedrooms each. Anything above 14 guests requires a full buyout of the town, so the practical wedding size here is between 20 and 44 people who all stay on site.
What does a Dunton buyout cost?+
Published rates are $40,000 a night with a two-night minimum in winter and spring, and $60,000 a night with a three-night minimum in summer and autumn. Rates include all meals, drinks other than the reserve wine list, the hot springs and the ranch activities.
How do guests get to Dunton?+
Telluride Regional Airport is about an hour away over Lizard Head Pass, Cortez is around 75 minutes and Montrose is roughly two and a quarter hours. The final stretch is dirt road, so arrange transfers rather than leaving guests to find it.
Is there mobile signal or internet?+
There is no mobile signal in the valley. That is part of why people come, but it means arrival instructions, timings and any medical needs have to be settled before guests leave the tarmac at Telluride or Cortez.
When can you get married at Dunton?+
Year round, with different weather in each half. Summer and early autumn bring wildflowers and long evenings at the higher buyout rate. Winter and spring are cheaper and snowbound, and the pass over from Telluride can close, so build a spare day into travel.
Where does the ceremony happen?+
Most couples marry outside by the river or in the meadow with the mountains behind, and there is a small restored chapel in the town for a service under cover. Dinner and dancing move into the dance hall and the saloon.
