01 · In a sentence

Castello Malaspina in Fosdinovo, open JuneNovember.

Castello Malaspina stands apart as a genuine 13th-century fortress rather than a converted villa, offering couples an authentic medieval stronghold in Tuscany's Lunigiana region.

The castle's dual role as both hotel and event venue means guests stay within the same stone walls where ceremonies unfold, eliminating the logistics of separate accommodations.

Its hilltop position commands views across the Magra River valley while maintaining the architectural integrity of a working defensive structure.

An absolutely stunning place! The views are breathtaking. I especially loved that you’re free to wander almost anywhere in the castle. The rooms are beautifully designed — clean, comfortable, and full of character. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
