Hotel Castell d’Empordà in La Bisbal d’Empordà, open June – September.

07 · Questions

Asked along the way.

How many guests can Castell d’Empordà hold?+

Up to about 200 on the Pèrgola terrace, or 70 in the medieval dining room indoors. On-site accommodation covers roughly 115 guests across 57 rooms and suites, so a party larger than that spills into hotels in La Bisbal and the nearby villages.

What does a wedding here cost?+

Planner listings report venue hire from about €7,000. Full-service weddings including planning and catering are reported at €55,000 to €65,000 for 50 guests, and €100,000 to €200,000 or more for 100 to 200. All of those are reported ranges, not quotes.

Can we take the whole castle?+

Exclusive use of the hotel is arranged by proposal. Without it the hotel keeps taking other guests through your weekend, which for a large wedding is usually worth avoiding, so ask for buyout pricing at the same time as the venue fee.

Where does the party end?+

In the cave beneath the castle, a vaulted space cut into the hill that the hotel uses for late-night dancing. It is enclosed, which is what lets the music run on after the outdoor terraces have to quieten down.

Which airport should guests use?+

Girona (GRO) is about 45 minutes away and served by low-cost carriers from across Europe. Barcelona (BCN) is roughly an hour and forty minutes and has far more long-haul options, so most international guests come through Barcelona.
