01 · In a sentence

Aman Kyoto in Takagamine, open July – September, December.

Aman Kyoto occupies a forest at the foot of Hidari Daimonji in Takagamine, north of the city and about half an hour by car from Kyoto Station.

The land had been walled and abandoned for decades by a textile magnate who meant to build a museum on it, and Aman kept the moss, the stone paths and the stream and set six low pavilions among them.

There are 26 rooms and suites, including six Aman Suites and a private residence.

This is not a ballroom wedding.

07 · Questions

Asked along the way.

How many guests can Aman Kyoto host?+

Aman does not publish a wedding capacity. The one seated figure it gives is 28 in the room with the central fireplace, and the resort has 26 rooms, so plan for a party in the tens and put anything larger to the celebrations team as a buyout.

Can we take the whole resort?+

Yes, Aman quotes a private buyout of the entire property, which is how most weddings here are actually structured. It is priced on enquiry and it moves sharply with the season, so ask early for the dates you care about.

What does Aman Kyoto cost?+

The resort publishes no wedding pricing. Rooms sit at the top of the Kyoto market, and a buyout of 26 rooms with dining attached is a seven-figure yen number per night before the wedding itself. Treat every figure on this page as an estimate.

How far is Aman Kyoto from the city?+

About 30 minutes by car from Kyoto Station, in Takagamine on the northern edge. That distance is the point of the place, and it means budgeting cars for guests rather than assuming they will walk anywhere.

When is the best time of year?+

The maples through the property make November the signature month and the hardest to book. April is the other peak. Summer in Kyoto is genuinely hot and humid, and the forest setting takes the edge off it rather than removing it.
