Halekulani opened its first property outside Waikiki on the Onna coast in July 2019, on a stretch of the Okinawa west shore that has been protected as a quasi-national park for more than fifty years.

The resort keeps the Honolulu house style, white and low and quiet, and points nearly everything at the East China Sea.
Ceremonies are not held in a chapel here: couples take the garden or the Hau Terrace, which the resort books for weddings on Saturdays and Sundays and seats up to 50, with weekday dates available on request.
Receptions move into the ballrooms and the beachfront restaurants.

How many guests can Halekulani Okinawa hold?+
The resort publishes one figure: the Hau Terrace seats up to 50 and is held for weddings on Saturdays and Sundays. Larger receptions move to the ballrooms, whose capacity the resort quotes on enquiry, so treat about 120 as a working ceiling and confirm it.
Is there a wedding chapel?+
No. Halekulani Okinawa has no chapel, and couples marry in the garden or on the Hau Terrace instead. If a glass chapel over the sea is the picture in your head, Okinawa has several, and this resort is not one of them.
Can we hold a weekday wedding?+
The Hau Terrace is set aside for weddings at weekends, and the resort asks you to enquire for a weekday date. Weekdays are usually cheaper across Okinawa and easier to hold, so it is worth asking before you fix travel.
What about typhoons?+
Typhoon season runs roughly June to September and it is a real planning constraint, not a footnote. October to May is the reliable window. Whatever month you choose, get the wet-weather room named in writing rather than described on a call.
How do guests get there?+
Naha airport is 60 to 70 minutes south by car, with hotel transfers, taxis and rental cars all normal. Okinawa is a domestic flight from Tokyo or Osaka, about two and a half hours from Haneda, so the connection is easy to build into an itinerary.
