01 · In a sentence

Quinta do Vallado in Peso da Régua, open June – September.

One of the oldest wine estates in the Douro, founded in 1716 and owned by descendants of Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the woman who built the modern port trade.

The quinta sits on the Corgo river a few minutes from Peso da Régua and is still a working winery first: 19 rooms across a traditional house, a schist-clad modern building by the architects Guedes Cruz, and the Eira suites.

Weddings here top out around 80 guests, which is what the estate is built for and what the roads and the rooms will carry.

Ceremonies happen among the vines or on the lawns above the river, drinks in the barrel room, dinner in the cellar or outside with the terraces climbing behind.

07 · Questions

Asked along the way.

How many guests can Quinta do Vallado take?+

Planner accounts put practical capacity at up to about 80 guests, with 50 to 80 the size the estate handles best. The quinta does not publish a wedding maximum, so confirm your number and the layout with the estate directly.

How many people can sleep at the quinta?+

There are 19 rooms: five in the traditional 18th-century house, eight in the modern schist building and six Eira suites. That covers the wedding party. Everyone else stays in Régua or Lamego, both within fifteen minutes.

Is the winery still working?+

Yes. Vallado is a producing Douro estate making table wines and port, and the cellar used for dinners is the cellar the wine is made in. Harvest runs from mid-September, which affects what spaces are free and when.

Can guests come by train?+

Peso da Régua station is about five minutes away on the Douro line from Porto São Bento, a two-hour ride along the river that most guests will treat as part of the trip. That makes Vallado one of the easier Douro venues to reach without cars.

What does a wedding here cost per person?+

Third-party planner figures for 2026 sit around €100 to €160 per guest for food and drink, which is materially below the Douro’s hotel venues. Treat that as an estimate and ask the estate for a written proposal.
