Ceremonies happen on the ramparts or in the courtyard, dinner in the vaulted rooms below, and the whole walled town, whitewashed with yellow and blue trim and about ten minutes end to end on foot, is the setting your guests walk through to get there.

How many guests can the Pousada hold?+
Capacity is quoted at up to 150 people depending on how the spaces are arranged. The castle rooms are small and historic, so a large wedding uses the courtyard and outdoor areas, with a wet-weather plan that is genuinely tighter.
Can our guests stay in the castle?+
There are 11 rooms in the castle, three of them inside the keep, and eight more in the Casa do Castelo next door, so 19 in total. Everyone else stays in the town of Óbidos or at hotels just outside the walls.
Can we bring our own caterer?+
No. The Pousada provides catering and bar service in house and does not permit third-party caterers, so the menu conversation happens entirely with the hotel. Confirm what they can do for dietary requirements early.
Is the town busy with tourists?+
Óbidos is one of the most visited small towns in Portugal and the walls fill with day trippers from mid-morning. Evenings empty out, which is why weddings here work: by the time the ceremony starts the town belongs to residents and guests.
How far is Lisbon airport?+
About one hour by car on the A8. Óbidos also has a station on the Oeste line, though the road is faster and more reliable. The beaches at Foz do Arelho and the surf at Peniche are around twenty minutes further west.
