Amanjiwo in Borobudur, open May, July – September.
A limestone crescent facing Borobudur across rice fields, with the Menoreh Hills behind it.
Ed Tuttle designed Amanjiwo in 1997 as a single curved sweep of 36 suites around a domed rotunda, oriented so that the largest Buddhist monument in the world sits on the axis of the view.
Nothing else in Indonesia is built to frame a thousand-year-old temple.
The wedding spaces follow the architecture.

Asked along the way.
How many guests can Amanjiwo hold?+
The Dalem Jiwo Suite is quoted for ceremonies and intimate events up to 40 guests. The Restaurant seats up to 90 indoors and takes up to 200 standing, which is the working ceiling for a reception at the resort.
What does a wedding at Amanjiwo cost?+
The Intimate Wedding Package is listed from IDR 590,000,000 plus plus, or about USD 63,500 for 30 guests, covering exclusive use of the Dalem Jiwo Suite, canapés, a two-hour beverage service and a three-course set menu. Rooms are quoted separately.
How do guests get to Borobudur?+
Fly to Yogyakarta International (YIA), about 80 minutes from Denpasar or 70 from Jakarta, then a little over an hour by road to Borobudur. The old city airport, Adisutjipto (JOG), is closer to town but handles far fewer flights.
Can guests visit Borobudur itself?+
Yes. The temple is a short drive across the rice fields and the resort arranges early morning visits before the crowds. Access to the upper terraces is now limited and ticketed, so book through the resort well ahead rather than on the day.
Where do guests stay?+
On site, in the 36 suites, or in Yogyakarta about an hour away. There is no comparable hotel near Borobudur, so a guest list above 70 will be split between the resort and the city, with a coach transfer for every event.
When is the best time of year in Central Java?+
The dry season runs roughly May to September and is the time to plan an outdoor ceremony. Java is hotter and more humid than Bali at low altitude; Amanjiwo sits high enough on the Menoreh side to catch a breeze in the evening.
