The only resort of its size in Labuan Bajo, and the reason a wedding on the edge of Komodo National Park is now a practical idea rather than an expedition.

01 · In a sentence

AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach in Labuan Bajo, open May – June, August – September.

The only resort of its size in Labuan Bajo, and the reason a wedding on the edge of Komodo National Park is now a practical idea rather than an expedition.

AYANA opened here in September 2018 with 205 rooms and suites on Waecicu Beach, a white-sand bay on the west coast of Flores looking out at the islands the Komodo dragons live on.

Four spaces take weddings.

The Naga Pier runs out into the bay on stilts and is the ceremony space everyone wants, with water on three sides.

Typical total

USD 40,000 to 110,000 all in for 120 guests

AYANA quotes each Komodo wedding individually and publishes venue lists rather than prices. Every money figure above is our estimate. Flowers, production and specialist suppliers are flown in from Bali, which is the line item that surprises couples here.

07 · Questions

Asked along the way.

What are the wedding venues at AYANA Komodo?+

Four: the Naga Pier running out into the bay, the rooftop Kukusan Terrace, Waecicu Beach itself, and the main deck of the AYANA Lako di’a, the resort’s nine-cabin phinisi sailing ship, which is quoted for up to 150 guests.

How do guests get to Labuan Bajo?+

Komodo Airport (LBJ) takes domestic flights only, so international guests connect through Denpasar (about 80 minutes in the air) or Jakarta. The resort is 15 minutes from the airport, which is the shortest transfer of any venue outside Bali here.

Can guests visit Komodo National Park?+

Yes, and most do. Day boats to Padar, Pink Beach, Rinca and Komodo leave from the town harbour and the resort jetty, taking a full day. Book park permits and boats through the resort, and give the trip a day of its own in the schedule.

What does a wedding here cost?+

AYANA quotes each wedding rather than publishing a rate card. Labuan Bajo runs cheaper than Bali for food and beverage but more expensive for anything that has to be flown in, including most flowers and production. Our planning band is USD 40,000 to 110,000 for 120 guests.

Where do 200 guests stay?+

Mostly at the resort, which has 205 rooms and suites. There is little else at this standard in town, so book the block early: Labuan Bajo fills through the dry season and the resort is the default choice for everyone visiting the park.

When is the best season in Flores?+

April to November, with the calmest seas from May to September, which matters if your reception is on a boat. January and February bring the heaviest rain and the roughest crossings, and some park boat operators stand down entirely.
