It's difficult to provide a rating for this place since it offers both restaurant and accommodation. Google Reviews doesn't appear to take this eventuality into consideration. We booked a two night stay following a Google search as it ticked most of our boxes, especially the accompanying dog one. The staff are lovely, friendly and more than happy to help so use them. Something that it difficult to see from the reviews and pictures is that it's located less than a metre from the main A3400, and I'm glad that our room wasn't facing it. It's not the busiest of roads but even so. Location is good, central to the Cotswolds but approx 5 miles to the nearest town which is Chipping Norton. There's seven small looking rooms, each accessed by several very heavy doors and narrow flights of stairs, not great when you are arriving or leaving. Remember to watch out for low door frames, I didn't. Our twin room was possibly the smallest we have ever stayed in, not great with the dog. The beds were ok and the room well equipped except there was only one single socket for our phone chargers. It should have been two but one was faulty which I forgot to mention to the staff. No issues with the bathroom or cleanliness, although you do have to pay £15 per night for the dog. I assume for extra cleaning but it wouldn't have been needed in our case. Food was up and down, no issues with the evening meals but breakfast could have been better. I wasn't keen on the allegedly Royal Warrant sausages which were tough and overly herb and peppery. They do like to sprinkle with salt and pepper when there's no need as it's already on the table. I could go on but it would appear overly picky. There's a decent choice and I do like that it's table service. The evening meals fared much and we enjoyed what we had. I suspect the turnover on ales is low judging by what I tried, all sample were warm and musty, I enjoyed the Hawkstone cider instead. The garden and play area is quite popular but you will need to walk your dog on the recreation ground some 5 minutes down the road. Pricewise overall I suppose it's par for the course but I wouldn't have wanted to pay more than I did.
